Terms of use
Effective 2026-11-08. These terms apply to RecallLens (https://recallcheck.trystarrynightops.com), its MCP connector and this website, published by Starry Night.
Informational use only
RecallLens shows information from public US government sources: the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA, through openFDA) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). It is not legal, medical, safety or other professional advice, and it is not an official government service. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by these agencies.
Check the official source
Recall records change, and the data may be incomplete, delayed or wrong. Before acting on a result, confirm it with the official record linked in the answer and with the manufacturer, dealer, retailer, pharmacist, clinician or another qualified professional. Vehicle results do not confirm whether a specific vehicle has an open recall; NHTSA's VIN lookup at nhtsa.gov/recalls does.
No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, availability, merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Starry Night is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from use of, or inability to use, RecallLens or its data.
Acceptable use
Don't use RecallLens to disrupt the service or the government APIs it relies on, for example through excessive automated requests. We may limit or block traffic that does.
Third-party data
The underlying data comes from US government agencies. FDA data is provided through openFDA under the openFDA terms of service. Agency names are used only to identify the source of the data.
Changes
The service is free today. We may change, suspend or discontinue it, or update these terms; the effective date above will change when we do. If paid features are added later, they will be described clearly before anyone pays.
